BALI

This tour explores the enchanting Indonesian island of Bali. We are staying for 3 nights in a small private hotel in the heart of Ubud, where we will be surrounded by lush green rice paddies and majestic volcanic hills.

Day trips from here will include the monkey forest, Batur volcano and Batur Lake. There will be ample time to take in the scenery and atmosphere, as well as sketch the surrounding environment.

Learn to make traditional Indonesian and Balinese dishes in a local cooking class.

From Ubud we travel to the east coast of Bali to Candidasa, where our hotel is located on the beach. We visit Buda Keiling and watch silver work being crafted. The palace of the East Bali King, Puri Karangasem is also on the itinerary, along with a visit to a water palace.

Visits to authentic Balinese villages and temples will provide wonderful sketching opportunities. We learn the traditional weaving process in Ikat, with a farewell  dinner and a local performance on our final evening.
