VIETNAM

Our holiday begins in bustling Hanoi. From there we travel to the mountainous area of Ba Be National Park with beautiful lakes, rivers and waterfalls. We take a spectacular lake boat trip and visit picturesque villages.

At Cao Bang we see rice fields, water buffalo and home farms. Leaving the busy tourist trails, we head near the border with China to Ta Lung.

At Lang Son we can enjoy the handicraft markets while sketching and recording the amazing atmosphere, and visiting beautiful caves and pools of an old mountain-top citadel.

Two nights are spent on a modern junk, gliding past spectacular scenery on Halong Bay and seeing the way the people live. There will be ample time to sketch, swim or just relax. Then to Cuc Phuong National Park which offers some of Asia's rarest species of fauna and flora and we visit the botanical gardens.

On to Mai Chau in the mountains staying in stilt houses with incredible sketching opportunities of village life. Then back to Hanoi with free time and a Farewell Dinner.
