Sketching Orangutans

Discover Central Borneo and witness the amazing rainforest and orangutans. There will be sketching throughout the tour. You will be staying in the renowned Rimba Orangutan Ecolodge in Central Kalimantan which is one of the few remaining places where orangutans can be seen in the wild. Rimba can only be reached by boat from the port of Kumai, and arriving at the Lodge jetty in the middle of the forest is an experience you will not forget.
You will have the opportunity to also see vibrant bird life and the proboscis monkeys as you cruise along the river. There is a easy jungle trek to visit the famous Camp Leaky to witness the orangutans who have been reintroduced back in to the forest. Camp Leakey is a landmark research and rehabilitation centre, where you will be able to observe and sketch the orangutans and learn about the history of the project. Four days will be spent exploring Borneo’s Tanjung Puting National Park.
