New Zealand South Island

Autumn in the South Island Lakes District
Tour Date TBA

It would be difficult to find a more idyllic setting for holidaying and sketching than the picture-perfect landscape of the Lakes District of the South Island of New Zealand in Autumn.

We start and end our programme in Queenstown, which rests beside Lake Wakatipu at the foot of the Remarkables mountain range.

The scenery is stunning as we cross plains, alpine basins, mountain passes, bare brown hills, fertile valleys, vineyards, pristine lakes and rivers and dramatic gorges carved by great rivers.

Enjoy the beauty of historic Arrowtown, where autumn trees blaze with colour in the main street. You will experience the Blue Pools of the Haast Pass where we will enjoy a picnic lunch with spectacular views of the Main Divide.

We travel through World Heritage Sites at Aoraki-Mount Cook National park with unique alpine scenery.

The natural beauty of the settlement of Glenorchy, provides us with ancient beech forests and rugged mountains where many scenes of Lord of the Rings was filmed.
